Acer AR380 F1 Video Card
A video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. Dedicated video cards are required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be added to the system. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Integrated video cards will never be better than dedicated graphic cards, generally speaking.
Cues of a declining video card
- The monitor shows bits and pieces of the desktop
- The desktop restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The display does not turn on when starting the computer
- The driver does not seem to install all the way
