Acer AcerPower SE Video Card
Most new desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where you can see the results. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking.
What are the clues to watch out for to know my desktop video card needs to be replaced?
- The graphics on your screen shows nothing
- Your Acer restarts when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The screen does not always show up when starting the computer
- The video card driver does not seem to install properly
