Acer AcerPower SV Video Card
Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Almost all newer desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board.
Main clues the display adapter will not live much longer
- The monitor produces weird colors or images
- Your Acer restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The display does not turn on when starting the computer
- The driver does not seem to install fully
