If your decision is to purchase a different brand charger, it is imperative to note the output of amps and voltage. A universal AC adapter can be used but only if necessary. The Acer Aspire 1450 AC adapter is responsible for two things, to charge up the main battery while simultaneously providing power for the laptop.
