The Acer Aspire 5720Z AC adapter is needed for two reasons, to charge any and all batteries and powering the laptop. Upon choosing a replacement adapter, the actual Acer brand will probably be the safest way to go. A universal AC adapter can be used but only if necessary. Because Acer uses one power charger that powers multiple other machines, double-check the part number or model number of the adapter.
