You are better off buying a new USB adapter and install it, than it is to replace any type of OEM adapter you might have. Buying a USB wireless adapter is quick and painless because the only thing you have to know is the operating system that is installed on your Acer laptop. Most new Wifi adapters are simply plug and play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the OS will install the drivers on its own. WiFi, or wireless internet, uses a piece of hardware to send and receive signals to and from your router.

- The WiFi adapter driver shows it as not installed
- Your WiFi on your laptop cannot see the SSID coming from your router
