The Acer Aspire E1-572 AC adapter is needed for two reasons, to charge the onboard battery and to provide a source of power for the unit. Because Acer has been known to use a single AC adapter that can be used on other units, make sure you check the part number for the correct one. A universal AC adapter is a possibility but only if necessary. When choosing a new AC charger, selecting the Acer OEM charger is usually going to be the safest choice.
