Acer Aspire X3400 Video Card
A graphics card processes graphics and renders images to the monitor where you can see the results. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Most new desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be added to the system. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for high-end games on the desktop like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking.
How do you know if your display card is failing?
- The monitor depicts colors that are all wrong
- Your Acer reboots when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The display does not turn on as you boot the PC
- A driver for the video card fails to install correctly
