Acer TravelMate 8100 Wifi
Buying a wireless adapter is quite easy because all you need to know is the current operating system on your laptop. The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses a piece of hardware to send and receive signals to and from your home network. Most new Wifi adapters are simply plug and play, which just means that you only need to put the adapter into an available USB port and the OS will handle everything from there. You are better off buying a new USB adapter and just plug it in, than to replace any built-in adapter your laptop may have.
Clues of a poorly performing wireless card
- The wireless adapter in your Acer laptop cannot see the SSID coming from your router
- The wireless adapter driver shows it as not installed
- Your WiFi signal disconnects itself throughout the day
