Acer Veriton 5600GT Video Card
Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general. All video cards processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results. Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Currently, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a dedicated video card to be added to the system.
Major warnings of a bad video card
- Your display displays vertical or striped lines
- The desktop reboots when starting a graphic intensive program
- The display does not show up as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card has problems installing fully
