Apple Macintosh Performa 6200CD Video Card
There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for high-end games on the desktop like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated display adapters are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. A video card computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results.
