Apple Macintosh Performa 640 Wifi
Buying a USB wireless adapter is quick and painless because all you need to know is what OS you are running on your Apple desktop. You are better off buying a common WiFi USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your desktop may have. WiFi, or wireless internet, uses an adapter to send and receive signals to and from your home network. Most new Wifi adapters are plug-n-play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the system will install the drivers automatically.
How do you know when your onboard WiFi really needs to be replaced?
- Your WiFi in your Apple desktop cannot see the SSID coming from your router
- The wireless signal goes in and out during the day
- The wireless adapter driver gives errors when installing
