Apple Power Macintosh 7200-90 Video Card
A graphics card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Integrated video cards are not as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard.
Major symptoms your display card is going to die
- Your display displays nothing
- The desktop crashes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The display does not come on when booting up
- The driver fails to install fully
