Asus EB1030 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. Currently, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard.
Some clues of an ailing video card
- The graphics on your screen shows stretched or elongated pictures
- Your Asus freezes when starting a graphic intensive program
- Nothing seems to turn on when starting up
- A driver for the video card does not seem to install properly
