If buying off-brand, make note of both the volts and amps outputs. The Averatec 7100 AC adapter is needed for two reasons, to charge up the main battery and to provide a source of power for the unit. When choosing a new AC charger, selecting the Averatec OEM charger is always going to be the safest and easiest way to go. Because Averatec has been known to use a single AC adapter that can be used on other units, double-check the part number or model number of the adapter. A universal AC adapter is a possibility but only if necessary.
General indicators that your laptop charger has little time left
