You are better off buying a new USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your laptop may have. Searching for a new adapter is simple due to the fact that all you need to know beforehand is what OS you are running on your Averatec 7100. The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses a piece of hardware to send and receive signals to and from your wireless router or modem. A lot of newer wireless adapters are simply plug and play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the OS will handle everything from there.
