Compaq 8080 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. Today, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. All video cards computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Dedicated video cards are necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Integrated, or onboard, graphics will never be better than a dedicated video card, in general.
