There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry. Integrated video cards are almost never as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general. Most new desktops will have at least one spot available for a dedicated video card to be added to the system. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results.
