Compaq Prosignia 340 Wifi
The WiFi in your desktop, if so equipped, uses an adapter to send and receive signals to and from your wireless router or modem. Buying a wireless adapter is quite easy because the only thing you have to know is what OS you are running on your desktop. A lot of newer wireless adapters are plug-n-play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the operating system will take care of the rest. It is cheaper and easier to purchase a common WiFi USB adapter and just plug it in, than it is to replace any type of OEM adapter you might have.
Symptoms to watch for in a failing wireless internet adapter
- The WiFi adapter driver suddenly shows as uninstalled
- The WiFi adapter in your Compaq desktop will not connect to your router anymore
- The WiFi has trouble connecting all the time
