Buying a USB wireless adapter is quick and painless because the only thing you have to know is the current operating system on your laptop. Most USB wireless adapters are simply plug and play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the system will install the drivers automatically. WiFi, or wireless internet, uses an adapter to communicate with your router and modem. It will be easier to buy a new wireless USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your laptop may have.
What are some indications that my WiFi adapter is crapping out?
- The WiFi adapter on your laptop is unable to find a signal from your router
- The wireless adapter driver gives errors when installing
- The wireless signal goes in and out throughout the day
