Dell PowerEdge 2100-200 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes graphics and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. Most new desktops will have at least one spot available for a dedicated video card to be installed.
Hints your desktop graphics card is in dire straights
- The monitor displays lines
- The desktop restarts when starting a game
- The screen does not always turn on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card has issues installing correctly
