Dell PowerEdge 2900 Ram
The clock speed of the RAM is imposed within the specifications from the motherboard, while the size is dictated by the operating system. Your server RAM stores pieces of information that the CPU is currently using for applications. Some RAM is mandatory in order for your server to boot up. Random Access Memory is considered temporary storage as the data it holds is removed when you shut down your system. Because RAM is only temporary storage for the CPU, it does not have the ability to store files such as documents or pictures. But, it has a positive impact on the speed of your server. If there is ever a doubt, just know that it is impossible to have too much RAM!
What are some indications that my stick of RAM really needs to be replaced?
- The system fails to come up with the right memory amount
- Silence when you start your system
- The OS produces random reboots on your server intermittently
- The server screen will not turn on when you start your server
