Dell PowerEdge 500SC Video Card
There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Most new desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be added to the system. A graphics card computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking.
Simple signals the display adapter will eventually need to be replaced
- The graphics on your screen displays stretched or elongated pictures
- Your Dell freezes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to show up when starting up
- A driver for the video card does not seem to install properly
