Dell PowerEdge C6105 Video Card
There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a graphics card to be installed. Integrated display adapters are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. A video card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second.
What are the signs that the display card is in need of replacing?
- Your display produces weird colors or images
- Your Dell restarts when starting a game
- Nothing seems to show up as you boot the PC
- A driver for the video card has issues installing fully
