Dell PowerEdge R520 Video Card
A video card computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as dedicated graphic cards, generally speaking. At the moment, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Most newer computers should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be added to the system. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry.
Clues to watch for to know the video card is going to die
- The monitor depicts colors that are all wrong
- Your Dell crashes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to come on when starting up
- A driver for the video card cannot install properly
