Dell Precision 530 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a separate video card, in general. Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. Dedicated video cards are required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be installed.
