Dell Precision T1700 Video Card
Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for high-end games on the desktop like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general. All video cards processes graphics and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. At the moment, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second.
How do you know when your desktop video card is in need of a replacement?
- The monitor produces lines
- The computer restarts when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The display does not come on when booting up
- The driver fails to install properly
