Dell Vostro 1000 Wifi
Finding a WiFi adapter is easy because all you need to know is the operating system that is installed on your Dell laptop. The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses a piece of hardware in order to connect to your router and modem. It is cheaper and easier to purchase a new USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your laptop may have. Most new Wifi adapters are plug-n-play, which just means that you only need to put the adapter into an available USB port and the operating system will take care of the rest.
What red flags are there that my onboard WiFi has gone bad?
- Your WiFi in your Dell laptop does not connect at all
- The WiFi adapter driver suddenly shows as uninstalled
- The WiFi goes in and out over and over again
