Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a dedicated video card, in general. Most newer computers should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard.
