Dell XPS 200 Video Card
Dedicated video cards are required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. A graphics card computes and renders images to the monitor where you can see the results. Integrated video cards will never be better than a dedicated video card, generally speaking.
Main clues the video card is dead
- The monitor produces vertical or striped lines
- Your Dell reboots when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to come on when starting up
- A driver for the video card has issues installing all the way
