Dell XPS 8300 Video Card
Most new desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be added to the system. There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A video card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general.
Some warnings the display adapter needs replacing
- The graphics on your screen shows stretched or elongated pictures
- The Dell XPS 8300 restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The display does not turn on when starting up
- The video card driver has problems installing all the way
