Gateway E-5250 Video Card
Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. Most newer computers will have at least one spot available for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed.
General indicators that your the video card will need replacing
- Your display shows weird colors or images
- Your Gateway reboots when beginning a game
- The display does not show up when starting up
- The video card driver has issues installing all the way
