Gateway E-6100 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a graphics card to be installed. Today, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A graphics card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a separate video card, generally speaking.
Major signs the video graphics card needs replacing
- The graphics on your screen shows bits and pieces of the desktop
- The PC reboots when starting a game
- The display does not come on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card cannot install properly
