When purchasing a replacement AC adapter, choosing the Gateway brand one will probably be the safest way to go. A universal power adapter can be used if you are desperate. Because Gateway has been known to use a single AC adapter that powers multiple other machines, make sure you check the part number for the correct one. If buying off-brand, make sure to check both the voltage and amperage output.
What to see if the AC adapter is not working properly?
- Your Gateway battery refuses to charge all the time
- Most Gateway adapters get warm when plugged in for any length of time
- The unit will not operate using just the AC power adapter
