HP Compaq 6000 PRO Video Card
A graphics card computes and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated display adapters are almost never as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second.
What warnings should I watch out for to know if my display card needs replacing?
- The graphics on your screen depicts stretched or elongated pictures
- The PC restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The screen does not always show up when starting the computer
- A driver for the video card has issues installing all the way
