HP ZX6000 Video Card
Integrated video cards are not as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A video card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Most new desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a video card to be added to the system.
Symptoms of a weak display card
- The graphics on your screen shows vertical or striped lines
- Your HP restarts when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The screen does not always come on when booting up
- A driver for the video card fails to install correctly
