Lenovo Aptiva 2196 Video Card
Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A graphics card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Dedicated video cards are necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed. Integrated video cards are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking.
How do you know when your graphics card is on its last leg?
- The graphics on your screen displays bits and pieces of the desktop
- The Lenovo Aptiva 2196 crashes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to turn on as you boot the PC
- The video card driver does not seem to install like it should
