Lenovo ThinkCentre 1741 Video Card
Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Integrated display adapters are not as good as dedicated graphic cards, in general. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be added to the system. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A video card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you.
Clues your desktop graphics card will not live much longer
- The monitor produces weird colors or images
- The Lenovo ThinkCentre 1741 freezes when beginning a game
- The screen does not always turn on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card has issues installing all the way
