Lenovo ThinkCentre 1782 Video Card
There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. A graphics card processes the input and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for high-end games on the desktop like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry.
Signals your desktop graphics card needs replacing
- The graphics on your screen shows nothing
- The desktop restarts when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The display does not show up when starting up
- A driver for the video card does not seem to install correctly
