Lenovo ThinkCentre 1997 Video Card
Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. A video card processes the input and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is typically a required piece of hardware for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Integrated display adapters are almost never as good as a separate video card, in general.
Clues to watch for to know the video graphics card needs replacing
- The graphics on your screen displays bits and pieces of the desktop
- Your Lenovo restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The screen does not always come on as you boot the PC
- The driver has problems installing fully
