Lenovo ThinkCentre 3491 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Integrated video cards are not as good as a separate video card, in general. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be added to the system. A graphics card processes the input and sends the rendered images to a monitor where you can see the results.
How do you know when your desktop video card is almost going bad?
- Your display produces nothing
- The PC restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The screen does not always show up when booting up
- The video card driver has issues installing properly
