Lenovo ThinkCentre 5055 Video Card
Almost all newer desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a dedicated video card to be added to the system. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes the input and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Currently, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Integrated video cards are not as good as dedicated graphic cards, generally speaking. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry.
Clues the display adapter will need replacing
- The monitor displays vertical or striped lines
- The Lenovo ThinkCentre 5055 reboots when starting a graphic intensive program
- Nothing seems to show up when booting up
- A driver for the video card cannot install all the way
