Lenovo ThinkCentre 6393 Video Card
Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A video card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. Integrated, or onboard, graphics will never be better than dedicated graphic cards, in general. Dedicated video cards are usually necessary for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield.
Subtle cues of a deteriorating display card
- The graphics on your screen shows lines
- The Lenovo ThinkCentre 6393 freezes when starting a graphic intensive program
- Nothing seems to come on when starting up
- A driver for the video card cannot install fully
