Lenovo ThinkCentre 6491 Video Card
There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. A graphics card processes graphics and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for high-end games on the desktop like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry.
Main clues the display adapter is going to die
- The monitor depicts stretched or elongated pictures
- Your Lenovo restarts when starting a game
- The display does not show up when starting up
- The video card driver fails to install like it should
