Lenovo ThinkCentre 7715 Video Card
There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated video cards will never be better than a separate video card, generally speaking. At the moment, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. A graphics card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you.
What are the clues to watch out for to know my display card is about to stop working?
- The monitor shows fragmented images
- The desktop reboots when beginning a game
- The screen does not always turn on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card fails to install correctly
