Lenovo ThinkCentre 8123 Video Card

There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Integrated display adapters are almost never as good as a separate video card, in general. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. A graphics card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results.
