Lenovo ThinkCentre 8145 Video Card
A graphics card processes the input and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated video cards will never be better than dedicated graphic cards, in general. A dedicated graphics card is typically a required piece of hardware for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield.
Simple signals your desktop graphics card is going out
- Your display displays nothing
- Your Lenovo restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- Nothing seems to show up as you boot the PC
- The driver fails to install all the way
