Lenovo ThinkCentre 8161 Video Card
A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Overwatch, Battlefield or Far Cry. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be added to the system. A graphics card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking.
Some clues the video graphics card will have to be replaced
- Your display displays stretched or elongated pictures
- Your Lenovo freezes when beginning a game
- The screen does not always come on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card has issues installing correctly
