Lenovo ThinkCentre 8288 Video Card

Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are two types of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. A video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield.
