Lenovo ThinkCentre 8297 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Dedicated video cards are necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. A graphics card processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. Integrated, or onboard, graphics will never be better than a dedicated video card, in general. Most new desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard.
Do you know if your video graphics card really needs to be replaced?
- Your display produces nothing
- Your Lenovo restarts when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The display does not turn on when starting up
- The driver does not seem to install fully
